Why waterproof testing is key to expert waterproofing

There are several steps to a permanent waterproofing solution – including expert leak detection, a tailored solution design and first-class installation and remediation.

Waterproofing testing is an important part of every solution, and not just at the final stage of your project.

At Danrae Group, our team uses a variety of testing methods for our strata, commercial, civil and government clients. Here’s what you need to know about waterproofing testing – and why it’s crucial for an industry-compliant, effective and expert waterproofing solution.

Testing through a waterproofing project

Waterproofing testing is particularly important at both the first and last stages of any waterproofing project. We use it for leak detection, to ensure we can correctly identify the source of water ingress and all issues including concrete spalling and cancer.

We use a broad scope of equipment and multiple testing methods during diagnostic, including traditional water testing, Electric Field Vector Mapping (EFVM) and InfraRed Detection, via either on-ground personnel or airborne drones. Effective leak detection is essential for a tailored solution design.

After installation and full remediation, we conduct further testing to ensure the waterproofing installation is watertight – and meets all applicable industry standards.

Waterproof testing methods

There are a number of waterproofing testing methods that waterproofers can call on for quality detection and installation. These include:

Drones – can be used for visual inspection of strata and commercial rooftops and facades, sometimes in conjunction with other testing methods.

Electronic leak detection – a non-destructive testing method using an electric circuit to detect minute voids and holes not readily visible.

Infrared – or thermal photography – identifies differences in temperature as a surface heats or cools, to measure the presence of moisture in exposed surfaces.

Moisture testing – can involve destructive or non-destructive samples to measure moisture content and relative humidity in substrates.

Thickness testing – a non-destructive test using an ultrasonic thickness gauge to confirm installed membrane thickness meets required performance specifications.

Triple tested for quality guaranteed

Danrae’s skilled team uses the latest technology for our waterproofing testing. In order to provide our full workmanship guarantee, we also triple test every project.
