Danrae Group has industry-leading capability in waterproofing solutions for the construction, civil, commercial,

In 2020, we joined a long-term redevelopment project at Redlands School in Cremorne on Sydney’s Lower North Shore.
While the building project was a challenge, the Danrae team completed the project without a hitch. Here’s what was involved in our leading waterproofing solution for a state-of-the-art educational facility.
Redlands is a co-education school that caters for students from preschool to Year 12. It is currently mid-way through a development Master Plan to transform the school’s senior campus into first-class, contemporary educational facilities.
The plans have included the design and construction of the John Roberts Centre – a music centre with an auditorium and recording studios that opened in 2018, plus extensive landscaping and a new access road for school transport.
In 2020, the school commissioned Danrae Group to provide a comprehensive waterproofing solution for the new Learning Hub, a four-storey contemporary building providing learning spaces for English, mathematics, visual arts, innovative design and social science, plus a roof-top space for science and social science experiments.
There have been several challenges inherent to the school’s Master Plan. The original builder went into liquidation and the subsequent builder, Buildcorp, had to add new sections that would seamlessly merge with the initial construction.
In keeping with school operations and its location on a busy road, the builder had to work in stages, fully completing each section before moving on to the next. It was also imperative that there be minimum disruption for students and nearby residents.
Established in 1884, Redlands is heritage-listed, so all building and trades work has to meet heritage restrictions and guidelines to preserve the school’s unique character – and quality.
